On Natures Trail

There is nothing as refreshing or recharging as a connecting with nature. Heading out for a long hike is the perfect way to unwind and relax. So this weekend just pull out your car and take a nice long drive to find the nearest nature trail that you can trek on. Just make sure that your car is well protected with a front protection grill – prevention is always better than cure. When you’re off-roading or driving on backcountry roads, there are several hazards your vehicle can face. If your car has a grille guard, it gets protected against damage against rogue deer, brush or anything else you may encounter on the drive. Here are some interesting trails that can be taken:

Between Queenstown and Tarraleah is the Franklin River. This is one of the few remaining wilderness rivers left in Australia. This hike is forms a circuit in the apex where the Surprise River joins the Franklin and is a a breathtaking and serene rainforest walk. At an easy pace you will take around 30 minutes to complete the circuit. it is 850 metres long and drops about 100m.

Another walk is the Sundown Nature Trail, situated in the rocky Sundown Hills, on the northern edge of the Broken Hill Common. The walk is 2.8 kilometres long and takes an hour and a half to complete. The terrain is rocky with little plant growth as the environment is mostly dry.

Another popular walking trail is through the seven hectare area of natural scrub in the Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens.

If you want to walk, cycle and birdwatch, then Kings Billabong within 2000 hectares of Park has plenty to offer.

If hiking is not thrilling enough then opt for a lovely drive to Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. This is a 6 mile long scenic loop dotted with mountains, streams, mills, and other historic buildings. However, since this is a narrow road trucks, trailers and RVs cannot fit on this road.
